TPC Weekly Update 9/9

Posted by North Bay Aquatics at Sep 9, 2019 1:09PM PDT

Hello

PRACTICE — Normal this week, EXCEPT this Friday we will hold an early season time trial (see below).

TIME TRIAL — This Friday! No need to sign-up, just show up and race. Warm-ups from 3:30-4:05. Races begin around 4:10 and the whole thing usually takes about 1 hour. Swimmers have the opportunity to swim a 50 or 25 of each stroke and earn some ribbons! It’s a good, early season base-line meet, and gives me times for younger swimmers to enter the Spooky Plunge (the highlight meet of the Fall for the novice crew!). We will need some timers, so come lend a hand! There are rumors of ice cream sandwiches…

GEAR — We will have a representative from Making Waves on deck next Thursday (9/19). More details out soon! (suits and parkas and sweatshirts, oh my…)

MEET SCHEDULE THROUGH FALL
9/13 Friday Night Time Trial at TPC no sign up necessary! Just show up!
9/21,22 St. Helena C/B/A+ CLOSED (unfortunately, these meets can fill up fast!)
10/19,20 Santa Rosa C/B/A+ Another sanctioned meet. Sign-up online (no coach on Friday night)
10/26 SPOOKY PLUNGE a great novice meet at the Rafael Racquet Club
11/2,3 NAPA C/B/A+ -not open yet
12/6-8 JUNIOR OLYMPICS in San Jose

DIVE/TURN CLINIC — like last Spring, we will offer a Wednesday, pre-practice (3-3:30) dive/turn focused half-hour group lesson. We will start THIS WEEK (9/11) and have 11 sessions until 11/20. Cost is $160mem/208n-mem. Email me to sign-up.

CONTACT — Please feel free to contact me (mike@northbayaquatics.org) with any questions, comments, or concerns over the season. I do enjoy feedback, and want to know any ideas to make the team and your experience better.

TPC Weekly Update 7/22

Posted by North Bay Aquatics at Jul 22, 2019 11:49AM PDT

Hello-

PRACTICE—this is the last week of Summer Swimming—normal practice for the rest of this week except Friday we will all swim together 8-9am. After this week, we break until August 26th (optional pre-season stroke clinic)—then Fall Swimming will start the Tuesday after Labor Day, 9/3. The Fall season goes 9/3-12/20—I’ll alert everyone when online registration is available.

RESL THANKS— A HUGE ‘Thank you!’ to everyone who helped time, marshal, move canopies, help with hospitality, find missing children, take kids to lunch, time some more, make sure kids made races, applied sunscreen, etc. It takes a full team effort to pull off this meet, but it is worth it! Thank you , thank you, thank you!

RESL RECAP— Great job this weekend! We had a lot of swims and almost all of them were inspired. This meet, like our banquet on Thursday, is a great opportunity to see Tuna great and small all working together for the common good. Our team came in 3rd place, but the number on the trophy is certainly not indicative of how I feel about our team—I am so proud of all of our efforts and the results were amazing. At a meet like this, the number of swimmers you bring to the meet greatly impacts the final score—so if we wanted to win this meet next year, we just have to get more people to participate! There were too many highlights to list, but I loved the relays!

FAR WESTERNS— One of the fastest meets in the land starts this Thursday in Moraga. From TPC we have William Canori and Cameron Forbes who have qualified (and Piper Morrell made it this past weekend, just narrowly missing the qualification window!). Good luck Tuna!

ST HELENA MEET— The Fall schedule is still being worked on, but I know we will be attending the St. Helena Meet on September 21,22 and it is up for online sign-ups already! This meet could fill up, so if you know you are interested, go ahead and sign up online
