Welcome to North Bay Aquatics

Our Mission Member of Pacific Swimming

North Bay Aquatics is a competitive swim team that offers youth, masters swimmers, and parents and coaches who participate, the opportunity to excel. We provide an environment where individual success is encouraged by presenting the most current training techniques in the areas of physical conditioning, stroke technique and racing strategies. We instill commitment, sportsmanship and team wide values to underscore the importance of working together so that all may succeed.

Parents are encouraged to learn about our training programs so that they may be effective in supporting their swimmers' goals. We continually work to include our parents as an integral part of our support structure.

Coaches are regularly given the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques for teaching. They are encouraged to be creative as they strive to impart their knowledge to the team.

We believe in the pursuit of excellence; measuring achievement on an individual basis. We acknowledge and embrace the concept that we all can have winning seasons. We believe that each individual is responsible for his or her actions and is accountable to the team. North Bay Aquatics stands for value, honor and integrity.

Recovery

September 5, 2010 Swim Blog

Our body adapts to stress - gets stronger - during periods of recovery. Athletes tend to push themselves, always testing limits. We find this to be the case regardless of age. Show us a motivated swimmer and we'll show you one who 9 times out of 10 is over trained and under rested.

You can get away with this for quite some time, especially if you are generally healthy and well nourished. But know this for certain, at some point you reach a stage of diminishing returns.

We see it in our Masters group as well. Often adults use physical exertion to balance and relieve the stress of mental effort. A really good workout relaxes you from the workday stress while improving your fitness level. That is an excellent reason to workout!
