SECTIONAL/NATIONAL TRAINING GROUP

While not everyone in this group is at the sectional level, the intent to achieve that level is there for all involved. Competitive swimming is an important and vital part of the athlete's life and they train with that in mind

Pre-requisites for participating in this group include:

1. High school age and above
2. Basic understanding of all drills used by the group
3. Ability to bring proper equipment to the practice each and every day
4. Attendance level that keeps the swimmer in touch with the group and its cumulative goals
5. Ability to swim 10 x 100 on the 1:20 and do more than just survive the set
6. Ability to kick 10 x 100 on the 1:45 and do more than just survive the set
7. Has achieved Pacific Senior time standards (listed below) in multiple events. If the swimmer does not have the freestyle senior times, they are close enough to those times that they can effectively train with the rest of the group

9. Displays basic maturity level and understandings of team dynamics to add to the group and its overall goals as a team.

PRE-SENIOR TEAM

BLUE GROUP

This blue group is designed to prepare the swimmer for the Sectional/National group. It is also for swimmers who have abilities levels or perhaps goals that do not reach the standards set by the Sectional/National group but enjoy the sport and are interested in improving.

Prerequisites for participating in this group include;

1. Middle school age and above. High school age swimmers and older middle school age swimmers take precedence over younger swimmers in the blue group
2. Basic understanding of all drills used by the group
3. Ability to bring proper equipment to practice each and every day
4. Ability to swim 10 x 100 on the 1:30 and do more than just survive the set
5. Ability to kick 10 x 100 on the 2:00 and do more than just survive the set
6. Has achieved pacific swimming junior time standards (listed below) in multiple events. If the swimmer does not have the freestyle junior times, they are close enough to those times that they can train with the rest of the group
7. Displays basic maturity level and understandings of team dynamics to add to the group and its overall goals as a team
8. The swimmer has the intention of swimming with the NBA on a year round basis. This program is not designed as a training program for those still participating in rec swimming. If the swimmer is unsure, a one season test run is certainly permissible to see if the NBA program is what they are looking for.

PRE-SENIOR TEAM

SILVER GROUP

This silver group is the entry level group for those ready for pre-senior swimming on our team. It is also a place for those that have not achieved junior time standards. There will be swimmers in this group who have not raced in many of the distances listed but will be included in the group on their potential to practice according to the standards set. This will be determined by the coaching staff and decided on a case to case basis.

Prerequisites for participating in this group include;

1. Middle school age and above
2. Participation in sanctioned US swim meets on a regular basis. If the swimmer is new to US swimming, then the intention to compete in these meets is required
3. Ability to bring proper equipment to practice each and every day
4. Ability to swim 10 x 100 on the 1:45 and not just survive the set. If the swimmer is new to US swimming, the coaches will determine with a bit of practice if this is possible for the swimmer to achieve in a timely manner
5. Ability to kick 10 x 50 on the 1:10 and not just survive the set. If the swimmer is new to US swimming, the coaches will determine with a bit of practice if this is possible for the swimmer to achieve
6. Has achieved pacific swimming 13-14 "A" time standards (listed below). If the swimmer does not have the freestyle times, he or she must be close in order to train with the rest of the group. If the swimmer is new to US swimming, the coaches will determine the swimmers ability to achieve these times with a bit of practice
7. The swimmer has the intention of swimming with North Bay Aquatics on a year round basis. This program is not designed as a training program for those still participating in rec swimming. If the swimmer is unsure, a one season test run is certainly permissible to see if the NBA program is what they are looking for.

AGE GROUP COMPETITIVE

The age group competitive group leads into the Pre-Senior group and with intention and desire, eventually the National/Sectional group. This group will be located; and is set up for; those on the team that have embraced the program on a year round basis both in practice and in competing in US sanctioned swim meets. Certain ability and maturity levels will have been achieved in order to participate, and the group will be divided into two separate groups to better serve the needs of the different ages and abilities that will be in this group. Some of the prerequisites include;

1. Swimming year round on NBA team on a year round basis. This program is not designed as an off season training program for local rec teams. If a swimmer is unsure and wants to test the program for a season before deciding, this is more than acceptable
2. Participating in US sanctioned swim meets on a regular basis
3. Basic swim skills needed in order to make the practice work properly determined by Head Coach. Being legal in all 4 strokes will be one of the requirements
4. Ages 7-14 will be the parameters for participation. The group will be divided into two separate groups in order to better work with the different ages and the different skill levels of those ages
5. Ability parameters will be determined by the coaching staff so as to make best use of the time and space dedicated to the group for the majority of its swimmers.
6. Desire to learn in a fun and positive environment

AGE GROUP RECREATIONAL

The recreational group is designed for those that are looking for some swim team experience but are not ready for the larger commitment needed to participate in the competitive group.

This group will also be for those not ready for physically for the competitive program. We welcome all ages and abilities to our team.

Some of the prerequisite for participating in this group include;

1. Swimmer has purchased their US swim card in order to maintain our team insurance properly
2. Ages 6-14 and showing the proper maturity level in order to participate in this group. The group will be divided into two or three separate groups in order to better work with the different ages and the different skill levels of those ages
3. Basic swim skills and speed needed in order to participate in the group in a beneficial way for the group as a whole
4. The ability to do all 4 strokes legally; or very close to being at the skill level
5. Participation in local and home swim meets is highly encouraged for those that are interested
6. Swimmers who are interested in participating in the program with the intention of going back to their rec team at the spring are more than welcome!!!
7. Desire to learn in a fun and positive environment

JUNIOR TEAM

The goal of Junior Team is to create an opportunity for kids to be introduced to swim team. On Junior Team kids learn how to interact in a group setting, take instruction, and learn the basics of all four strokes, with an emphasis on freestyle; while learning in a safe and fun environment. In focusing on the basics of the four strokes, we emphasize:

1. The importance of body position in the water
2. The importance of the kick to each different stroke.
3. The importance of overall stroke technique.

To help reinforce the importance of technique and to give the kids a reason "why" we focus so much on technique, we offer 1-3 Junior Meets where kids have an opportunity to put into practice what they learn in the practices; win some ribbons, and have fun. We will emphasize getting their strokes up to legal standards so that they have the opportunity to join the regular swim team if they so desire. Swimmers in this group are not required to purchase a US swim card as this is a TPC program and not an NBA program. As soon as the swimmer joins the regular team, he or she is required to get their card in order to maintain the teams liability insurance policy
