Lost Dutchman

Chandler, Arizona, Feb 16-19, 2007   Feb 16-19. 2007
Beautiful weather until the last day. 28 Tuna went down to the annual Arizona Lost Dutchman Meet. A success in every aspect this year. We stay in a hotel that is right across form the pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were ready and waiting for our team when we wanted that to happen. Our team's meet management was awesome and I have to thank the participating parents for making that happen. Our swimmers had a great time out of the pool and even a better time in it.

Highlights off the top of my head
  • Anthony recording 3 new sectional times
  • Laura winning two races with times that are the fastest ever recorded by a female tuna
  • Chris Packer winning the 50 free after psyching out the world champion (Roland Schoeman) and making him not want to face him in the finals. Actually I wish Roland had swum as Chris would have been right next to him in the race. How often do you get a chance like that at 16? It was great watching Roland and his fellow gold medal Olympian (Lyndon Ferns) swim it give you an appreciation to what is possible. Plus them being form Arizona Wildcats doesn?t hurt!!
  • Relays that were on fire!!
  • 24 new top 3 board swims including 9 new team records.
