NORTH BAY AQUATICS IMPRESSES AT JUNIOR NATIONALS: NABS 12TH PLACE

Over 1400 swimmers age 18 & under competed at the prestigious NCSA Junior National Swim Meet March 18-22 in Orlando, Florida which brings together hundreds of swim teams from across the nation. North Bay's eight young men & four women Junior Nationals qualifiers garnered 12th place, an impressive win for such a small team, many of whom were competing at Junior Nationals for the first time. The North Bay men celebrated a 6th place victory and the women placed 30th.
"It was a great event for the team, and we are certainly pleased with the performances of all 12 North Bay swimmers that participated", beamed a happy Ken DeMont, North Bay Aquatics Head Coach. "This certainly raises the level of national attention on Marin County swimmers."
Team highlights were Deborah Roth, age 15, qualifying for the Olympic Trials in the 100 meter Backstroke & a remarkable second place finish by the Men's 200 Medley Relay setting a meet record (broken later) & a new Pacific Swimming record for a total time of 1:32.6 seconds, with formidable splits of 24.2 backstroke (DeMoss), 25.9 breaststroke (Denton-Schneider), 22.1 butterfly (Ostler), 20.2 freestyle (Packer). In addition, North Bay's Chris Packer, age 17, moved closer to a 50 Freestyle Olympic Trials qualifying time, missing by just three-tenths of a second.
