What a great time we had!! 25 swimmers made it down there this year, and one of my goals was to come back a better team than when we left. This can be accomplished not only by swimming fast, but by being part of a unified group- swimmers, coaches, and parents. We succeeded in our quest and I couldn't be prouder.
As we move into the next couple of months, our team will be going every which way competitively as we have different levels, different big meets, and different goals for all our swimmers. This was the chance to go to a big time meet as a larger team.
Unofficially we had 24 new board swims over the weekend which is an incredible number. We were clicking along at around 50% best times for the meet, also really good considering our swimmers were swimming their best events. We had some awesome relays, especially the last night, with some great splits, spirit and support. Well over half our swimmers were able to participate in the finals as well.
We also picked up a new swimmer on the trip, Borat Mazerat, from the old country, who inspired our team to new heights. Thanks for all you do Borat!!
Thanks to all who went and to all the parents who supported the process. Next year, I want to get our numbers up above 30 (40?)
I want more to be able to be part of such a great and valuable event, so let's swim fast!
