This weekend I saw complete glee. Our relays were unbelievably psyched, and a major reason we got 7th. The kids were going crazy. When Stephanie Christofferson was on the awards podium after placing second in the 50 fly, she had the biggest happiest smile I have ever seen. I saw toughness. Before the 11-12 400 free relay, Lexie looked like she would be better off in bed. She was definitely not herself physically. And yet she pulled off a lifetime best split that was a crucial element in our winning that relay. Scenes like these are why I coach, and there were many others too long to list.

Now as we enter spring, I look forward to seeing who out of our first and second year swimmers are about to start want to experience what our swimmers experienced this past weekend. We worked hard this past winter and we enjoyed the fruits of our labor, not only our Far Western swimmers, but all those who really put forth effort over the last 6 months. Let the next season begin.
