40 of our swimmers made the trek up to the Sierras for our annual
July meet. I must say that I really have a good time up there. The meet is a
really good situation for developing the "team" aspect of our program. The kids
and parents both seem to spend a lot of fun time together at the pool,
the lake, and at the evening soirees. On top of that, our team swam pretty darn well.
The coaches know what we need to do to end this season strongly, and I look forward to the final 4 weeks.
Results off the top of my head (sorry if I missed anything).
Ste Christofferson set a new team record in the 200 breast (2:33.28) as well as two other board swims in the 200 IM (2:21.37) and the 100 breast (1:11.24).
Laura Slater recorded a new Q time in the 50 free (26.99)
New AA times were recorded by:
Brigitte Winkler in the 50 and 100 breast
Patrick Konttinen in the 50 and 200 free
Rod Hesh in the 50 free
Becca Roth in the 50 free
Laura Slater in the 100 back
Congrats also to our 4 new swimmers who swam in their first away invitational:
William Breck, Morgan Buckley, Charlie Waters, and Matt Pelfini. All swam to
many best times and came out of the meet much more confident in their abilities
to swim away from the homefront. Hopefully this will be the first of many meets
to come for them.
